“I was kidnapped and beaten”

The Namur public prosecutor’s office demanded this Friday before the criminal court the confirmation of a two-year prison sentence imposed on two defendants convicted in absentia and who appealed.

They had to answer for prevention of intentional blows and injuries resulting in an incapacity of more than four months and for sequestration.

The facts took place in Gembloux in December 2018. The two defendants, who form a couple, took in a friend who was going through a depressive episode. After consuming alcohol, they allegedly offered her a threesome, which she refused. The victim then states that he was kidnapped and beaten. Me de Fauconval, counsel for the victim, claims 500 euros. The lawyer specifies that his client still presents today with significant post-traumatic stress.

“The victim is unstable and depressed”

The prosecution is seeking confirmation of the original sentence. Counsel for the defendants pleaded for their acquittal. “The victim is unstable and depressed. The doctor who examined her believed that she had taken drugs,” he said.

Judgment is expected on November 4.
