Israel to arrest settlers who attacked Turmusaya after American demands
Israeli sources said that the Israeli security services are in the process of issuing administrative detention orders against a number of Israeli far-right activists who were involved in the attack on Palestinian villages, including Turmusaya, between Ramallah and Nablus, and the village of Orif, south of Nablus in the West Bank. Settlers attacked the town of Turmusaya, most of whose residents hold American citizenship, and burned dozens of homes and cars there, in an attack that seemed similar to the previous bloody attack on the village of Hawara near Nablus, which brought Israel great international criticism. Hundreds of settlers stormed the town of Turmusaya twice, and set fire to homes, cars and fields, shortly after the end of the burial ceremonies for two dead Israelis, in the attack carried out by two Palestinian gunmen in the “Eli” settlement on Wednesday, killing 4 Israelis.
The Palestinian Authority Ministry of Health said that a Palestinian was killed and 12 others were wounded during the settlers’ attack.
The acts of terror in the town near Ramallah came after settlers attacked several Palestinian towns in the northern West Bank.
Video footage posted on social media from the town of Turmusaya showed cars and houses on fire. The mayor of Turmusaya, Lafi Adeeb, said that 60 cars and 30 houses were partially or completely burned in the settler attacks on the town. Police said the incident is under investigation, and there were no reports of immediate arrests. Condemnations continued Thursday for the attack on Turmusaya and the rest of the villages.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, condemned the acts of vandalism by the settlers, describing them as “acts of terrorism.”

Meanwhile, a Palestinian official stated, Thursday, that the transformation of Israeli settlers in the West Bank into armed militias represents a qualitative and dangerous development in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
A member of the Executive Committee of the PLO, Ahmed Majdalani, told the official Palestinian radio that the conversion of settlers into armed militias auxiliary to the Israeli army forces represents a serious and qualitative development of the situation in the Palestinian territories.
Majdalani promised, according to what was reported by the German News Agency, that “this transformation is not limited to its military dimension, but also the political dimension through which the Israeli government is trying to show that the crisis in the West Bank is not between an occupied people and the occupation forces, but rather a conflict between Palestinian civilians and Jews. And resolve the dispute on this basis.
He added that what is happening in the field conditions “represents a qualitative shift in the nature and extent of the conflict, which may take a greater escalation in the next stage, including the risks of a mass explosion.”
Majdalani stressed the necessity of forming popular resistance committees in all Palestinian towns and villages, and mobilizing all energies with the aim of “confronting this stage, which is characterized by the development of forms of Israeli violence and terrorism.”
He stressed that “resistance is a legitimate right of the Palestinian people in the face of the occupation and armed militias, which necessitates renewing all forms of struggle and raising their level at all levels.”

The return of assassinations
This comes as the Israeli army launched a campaign of raids in the West Bank at dawn on Thursday, during which confrontations took place in some areas and arrests of a number of young men.
Palestinian sources stated that a young man was wounded by live bullets and a boy was arrested, during clashes with the Israeli army in the Dheisheh refugee camp in Bethlehem.
