‘I wonder why the bid stopped at 1.10 crores’; Young Indian pacer with an open mind

Cricket Puram will begin on Friday in India. The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is being held this year. Shivam Mavi, the young Indian pacer of Gujarat Titans, said that he wants to win the title for the second time in a row.

“We (Gujarat Titans) will win here like last year, I have joined them and I want to help the team to become champions again,” Mavi said in a video released by the team. Mavi, who was a Kolkata Knight Riders star, was brought into the Gujarat team this season.

After his excellent performance in the Under-19 World Cup held in New Zealand in 2018, the star was picked in the Kolkata team. The 24-year-old also shared interesting experiences about the IPL auction. “When the auction process was going on, I was in Nagaland playing the Ranji Trophy against Uttar Pradesh. My bid started at Rs 1.10 crore. I wondered why this amount was left out’ – Mavi responded.

Gujarat Titans desperately wanted to call him up. It was great to be able to play with them. Heard the team management and captain are good. I have seen them all before. Mavi stated that the character and atmosphere of the team is really good and that is why the Gujarat team wanted to select him.

The player said he was looking forward to playing with his long-time friend and Indian U-19 World Cup-winning team-mate Shubman Gill.
