ICC Twenty20 XI; Three Indians made it to the team ICC Twenty20 XI; Three Indians elected to the team

Three Indian players have been named in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Twenty20 cricketers’ squad for 2022. Two players each from Pakistan and England have been included in the 11-member team led by English star Jos Buttler. One each was selected from New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and Ireland. The Indians included in the team are Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya. Apart from Butler, Sam Curran is in the team from England. Mohammad Rizwan and Haris Rauf from Pakistan also made the cut. Eglan Phillips (New Zealand), Sikander Raza (Zimbabwe), Vanindu Hazaranka (Sri Lanka) and Josh Little (Ireland) are the others selected.

Suryakumar Yadav, who is in explosive form, has scored 1164 runs at an average of 46.56 with a strike rate of 187.43 in Twenty20 in 2022. He also became the world number one batsman. Pandya has produced an excellent all-round performance with 607 runs and 20 wickets. 2022 also witnessed the brilliant comeback of former captain Virat Kohli. Kohli has scored 781 runs at an average of 55.78 in 20 matches.

Four Indian players have been selected in the list of top 11 women players. The Indians in the team are Smriti Mandana, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh and Renuka Singh. Other team members are Beth Mooney, Sophie Devine, Ash Gardner, Tahlia McGrath, Nida Dhar, Sophie Ecclestone and Inoka Ranaweera.
