Iconic former Miss France paid tribute to Geneviève de Fontenay, Saturday December 16, in Dijon.

MISS FRANCE – A long-awaited moment. While the Miss France 2024 ceremony is being held this Saturday, December 16, from Dijon live on TF1, an audience of emblematic former Miss France, including Élodie Gossuin and Sonia Rolland, paraded on stage in tribute to Geneviève de Fontenay, disappeared in 2023.

At the end of a sequence showing archive images of the former beauty pageant figure, around forty title holders gathered, walking down the steps two by two, hand in hand.

We notably saw Rachel Legrain-Trapani, Iris Mittenaere, Nathalie Marquay-Pernaut, but also Sylvie Tellier, as well as Flora Coquerel, and Vaimalama Chaves.

Even if its form had not been revealed, the tribute to Geneviève de Fontenay was not a surprise. Died last August, Geneviève de Fontenay headed the Miss France committee between 1981 and 2010, and even today, her name and her image are inextricably linked to the beauty contest.

A 100% female jury

And this despite the numerous controversies linked to his latest positions on the competition. In addition to statements deemed transphobic, Geneviève de Fontenay has long been the target of feminist associations for her vision of women.

The sequence dedicated to him, this Saturday, December 16, took place before the presentation of the long-awaited prize. Like every year, the new beauty queen must be elected 50/50 by the public and a jury chaired this year by Sylvie Tellier, exclusively composed of women for the first time. Among them, the model Adriana Karambeu, the actress Stéfi Celma, the singer Nolwenn Leroy, the pastry chef Nina Métayer, the boxer Estelle Mossely and the comedian Élodie Poux.
