Add: The Annual General Meeting of the Idukki District Sports Council for the year 2021 – 22 was held at the Collectorate Mini Conference Hall. District Sports Council President Romeo Sebastian presided. A resolution was passed requesting the State Sports Council to grant permission to the Idukki District Sports Council to find children by conducting local selection to address the shortage of sports players in the sports academies of the district.
Also, the meeting unanimously approved the formation of ‘Kaikasaha Nidhi’ with the help of sports enthusiasts and well-wishers to help the poor sportspersons of the district.
In the meeting, there was a need for Gram Panchayats to wake up and work to activate the activities of local sports councils and sports clubs to give new impetus to sports promotion. The meeting assessed the importance of sports training to combat substance abuse that plagues the society.
The meeting condoled the demise of football legend Pele and cycle polo national player Nidha Fatima. International weightlifter Ratheesh Kumar PR and sports coach Dominic PS were honored with Momenta on the occasion.
In the meeting, State Sports Council Member KL Joseph welcomed, Zilla Panchayat Vice President Ushakumari Mohankumar and Executive Member Anas Ibrahim gave greetings. Ex-officio members of Sports Council X, representatives of various sports associations, District Sports Council Secretary Shine.NP, etc. spoke in the meeting.
