Today, following an adventurous investigation, the police authorities arrested a 45-year-old man for the murder of a 65-year-old foreigner in Ierapetra.
Specifically, according to the police, on Sunday 07.04.2024 in the area of the Municipality of Ierapetra, the 65-year-old foreigner was found dead in his home by a familiar person, with the initial indications showing death from pathological causes, due to serious health problems that the 65-year-old was facing
However, as published by APE-MPE, the investigation that followed by the Organized Crime Department of the General Regional Police Directorate of Crete and the Ierapetra Security Department, revealed serious indications of criminal activity.
In this context, according to the police, evidence was collected and from their analysis, overview and consideration, the 45-year-old citizen emerged as the perpetrator. At the same time, an exhumation of the victim was carried out in order to carry out a forensic examination, in order to precisely determine the causes and more specific circumstances of death.
The arrested person will be brought before the investigating authority to apologize.
The preliminary investigative work was carried out by the Organized Crime Department of the General Regional Police Directorate of Crete.
