Greg Vanderidt was disappointed after Beerschot’s defeat against Sporting Charleroi. He praised his players’ mentality, but also knows why things got harder and harder from the 70th minute.

“You can’t say anything about the mentality and the attitude today. The fans were chanting ‘blood on the posts’ before the game, they got it today,” Vanderidt told the conference. Press. “Unfortunately I have to conclude that if this was the story all season, if you play like this then you are not the last,” he continued.
“It takes energy, it takes good physical preparation and maybe we don’t have it,” Vanderidt said, pinpointing the problem. “We haven’t had that this year. It’s very difficult to rectify that. When you lack quality, you have to compensate with effort, running and physical work. We did that today, but like against Kortrijk, we fall flat after 70 minutes. It’s because you gave it your all. But that’s what we all wanted to see today, which is that they give it your all.”
“The way we lost the game here today sums up Beerschot’s season as well. When you are leading 2-1, you have the opportunity to widen the gap. That’s not happening. We can’t change anything and I want to remember that the boys gave it their all,” Vanderidt concluded.
