Thirty-seven people sent to the Health Center the festive table that had been set up outside the church of Agios Georgios in the village of Vouprasia in Ilia.
According to the residents who were at the hospital, the ewe was responsible for the food poisoning, while the parish priest who held the festival confirmed to Alpha that the parrot had caused it.
The poisoning probably comes from the boiled sheep, which was cooked, as every year, by the papaya, according to what the priest told Alpha. “Papadia cooked the sheep, sorry for what happened” she said characteristically, explaining that she is a well-known cook in the area and has taken on this role every year. However, for next year he clarified that the procedures will be different, as everything will be standardized.
“I ate too and it didn’t bother me, I don’t know what happened” said the priest who organized the festival and apologized. “As a priest I apologize profusely, it was an unfortunate moment,” he said.
However, he doesn’t seem completely convinced that this particular food is to blame. “One says I ate everything and nothing bothered me. I can’t say that people lied. The reasons are many – they told the army – involvement is one”.
