Illinois: a law to “protect” abortion and “gender transitions”

On January 13, Illinois Governor Jay Robert Pritzker signed into law a law to ” protect reproductive and gender-affirming healthcare patients and providers from legal action brought in other states.

The law also provides licensing protection for health care providers licensed in multiple states, and practicing in both Illinois and other states, who may be penalized under different legislation.

Since the quashing of Roe v. Wade last June (cf. United States: the Supreme Court puts an end to the “right to abortion”), regarding 30% of women who went to the Planned Parenthood of Illinois came from other states, up from 6% before the Supreme Court decision.
