ILO Commission will discuss wages in Margarita in January

The International Labor Organization (ILO) will discuss the wage issue in Venezuela in January next year.

After some technical tables were held in the months of April and September 2022, the International Labor Organization (ILO) will discuss the wage issue in Venezuela in January next year.

An ILO commission, chaired by Jorge Roig, will attend the island of Margarita in order to establish important points for the Venezuelan worker.

“In that meeting we have some technical tables that are called to discuss the salary,” Roig said in an interview with Unión Radio.

The member of the ILO Administrative Council insisted that the salary increase is a fundamental issue in the country.

“What is clouding the process of increasing the salary a little more is precisely the recalculation of social benefits, a recalculation that prevents people who have been working in a company for 25 years from double or triple their salary” he added.

They propose to raise wages in the ILO

He supported the proposal to raise wages as long as there is a law that temporarily allows -and elective for the worker- that this additional payment does not enter into the recalculation of benefits.

“This is discussed with many union sectors of workers who agree, I think that the one who has the most difficulties is the public sector. What we are asking is that this be made visible, legalized, so that one does not feel that they are doing something strange, but simply if they already know that this is happening, let’s give it the appropriate legal framework, ”he specified.

He pointed out that it is important to see more proposals from the unions and the Executive branch related to this point.

The former president of Fedecámaras commented that Venezuela is trying to generate a culture of social dialogue and “we have achieved it thanks to the ILO and the willingness of the Government to sit at the table with us and the workers.”
