Ilya Kiva was 46 years old. In 2019, he was elected as a deputy of the Rada from the “Opposition Platform – for Life.” Before that, he served in the ATO zone and was a member of the Right Sector*.
Kiva left Ukraine on the eve of the start of the Russian military operation “under the pretext of a vacation on EU territory,” writes UNIAN. In March of the same year, he was deprived of his deputy mandate.
He supported the entry of troops into Ukraine and was in Russia. In April 2022, he asked President Vladimir Putin for political asylum and citizenship.
In November 2023, a court in Lviv sentenced Kiva in absentia to 14 years in prison. He was charged, in particular, with treason and calls for the seizure of power.
