This Tuesday, around 3:30 p.m., a parachutist from Bondues aerodrome found himself stuck in the tree of a residence located along the Grand Boulevard, avenue de la République, on the border of Lille, Marcq-en -Barœul and La Madeleine, report our colleagues from La Voix du Nord. The firefighters rolled out their ladder and intervened for about ten minutes to get the man out, safe and sound. His family went directly to the scene of the incident: “We had a little scare when we learned what had happened,” said his wife, accompanied by their two daughters.
“I couldn’t hear the signs anymore”
After reaching an altitude of 1500 meters, the parachutist jumped from the plane, before losing all contact with the rest of the team. “I couldn’t hear the indications in my headset anymore. When I opened my parachute I deviated with the wind, he comments with emotion. I no longer knew how to identify myself. Panicked, the skydiver had two options: land on a football field or in a tree. “I had to make my choice quickly, and I told myself that the leaves and branches would cushion my fall,” he concludes.
A first experience
The father of the family had already made several tandem jumps before, but had never jumped independently. “My relatives had given me this jump as a gift for my forty years,” he says. It was after many hours of training that the student parachutist was finally able to jump alone. A first experience that left him with a bitter taste, however: “I’m going to stop skydiving, I’ve had my fill for the rest of my life!” »
