A man has been arrested in Mexico after he lured and killed women after posting fake job advertisements on the Internet.

Mexico’s deputy security minister Ricardo Mejia said on the 2nd (local time) that a 38-year-old man named Grik Roman, who was arrested the day before as a murder suspect, was involved in the murder of at least seven women.

Prosecutors in Veracruz, eastern Mexico, said on the 1st that they had arrested two people, including Creek Roman, as suspects in the murder of a woman in her 30s who was recently found missing.

Prosecutors’ investigation revealed that they posted fake job advertisements on Facebook and then met and killed the woman they contacted after seeing it.

The victims investigated so far are Viridiana, 31, from Veracruz, and Evelyn, 22, from Morelos.

Viridiana, who has a 10-year-old son, has not returned after seeing a job advertisement for a hotel front desk employee under the name of ‘Mary Merrison’ last month and leaving home to apply and interview.

Family and friends set out to find Viridiana, but her body was found a few days later.

Evelyn, a university student, also met the suspect at a cafe after seeing an advertisement on Facebook at the end of March, and was found dead three days after that.

An examination of the body revealed that Evelyn was murdered after rape.

“The suspect met both victims in a public place with a lot of people, and then took them to another place to commit the crime,” the prosecution said.
