IMAD: Geneva’s Leading Home Support Institution with Innovative Headquarters and Digital Solutions

2023-10-02 12:48:47

The Geneva Home Support Institution (IMAD) inaugurated its new headquarters on Friday located in a brand new building on the Pont-Rouge esplanade in Lancy (GE). These 7,900 m2 premises intended for 2,400 IMAD staff members offer open work spaces and include a campus dedicated to training.

“More than 90% of the workforce is directly in the field,” underlined Marie Da Roxa, general director of IMAD. Compared to the former headquarters located in Carouge, individual work places have been reduced by half in favor of collaborative spaces.

The new premises are bright and favor large volumes. IMAD rents this building, which belongs to the Geneva State Pension Fund (CPEG), for an annual amount of 3.5 million francs. This rent is in the “average range” for this type of premises, according to IMAD.

Pierre Maudet, who took over as head of the health department a little over three months ago, insisted on the importance of home care in health policy. His political mentor, the radical Guy-Olivier Segond, had already designated home care as an essential link in health. It was in 1992.

In 2023, as IMAD celebrates its 10th anniversary, 8,300 services are provided daily to more than 18,300 patients of all ages. “The system demonstrated all its agility during the health crisis,” noted Mr. Maudet. And for the institution, the challenges ahead are numerous. Listen to Marie Da Roxa, general director of IMAD.

IMAD brings together more than 170 professions, said Ms. Da Roxa. This independent public establishment is the company that trains the most care and community health assistants in Geneva. But that will not be enough to meet the needs in the canton, according to Mr. Maudet. After a period of observation to make a diagnosis, he intends to “shake up health stakeholders” and “get them out of their comfort zone”.
