Getty Images (NYSE: GETY), a global company leading the creation and marketing of visual content, today announced the launch of Getty Images Generative AI, a new tool that combines the company’s best creative content with the latest intelligence technology artificial intelligence to create an Artificial Intelligence image generator that is commercially safe.

Getty Images Generative AI is trained on the next-generation Edify model architecture, which is part of NVIDIA Picasso, a platform for creating generative AI models for visual design. The tool is trained exclusively from Getty Images’ vast creative library, including exclusive, best-in-class content, with full indemnity for commercial use.

Accompanying other already solid and industry-leading services, Getty Images’ Generative AI integrates seamlessly with the company’s extensive library of authentic and captivating visual content, as well as its personalized content offering, Custom Content, allowing everyone to customers optimize the entire creative process to find the right visual content for any need in one place.

“We’re excited to launch a tool that harnesses the power of generative AI to meet our customers’ business needs while respecting the intellectual property of content creators,” said Craig Peters, CEO of Getty Images. “We have worked hard to develop a responsible tool that gives customers confidence in visuals produced by generative AI for commercial purposes.”

Customers who create and download visuals through the tool will receive Getty Images’ standard royalty-free license, which includes representations and warranties, unlimited indemnity, and the perpetual, non-exclusive right to use the content worldwide and in all media. Content generated through the tool will not be added to existing Getty Images and iStock content libraries. Additionally, contributors will be compensated for any inclusion of their content in the training dataset.

“We talk to our customers about the rapid growth of generative AI – we hear excitement and hesitation – and we try to be intentional about how we develop our own tool,” said Grant Farhall, Chief Product Officer (CPO) at Getty Images. “We created a service that enables brands and marketers to confidently adopt AI and expand their creative possibilities, while compensating creators for including their visuals in the underlying training sets.”

Getty Images’ generative AI can now be used on GettyImages.com. Customers can also choose to integrate the service into their existing workflows and applications through an already available API.
Additionally, customers will soon be able to customize Getty Images’ Generative AI with proprietary data to produce images with their brand’s unique style and language. This and other service advancements will be added later this year. Currently, the tool is only available in English. Expansion to other compatible languages, including Portuguese, will be carried out in subsequent phases.”
