New international call by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Künstlerhaus association for visual artists

Vienna (OTS) With a new joint call for proposals, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Künstlerhaus Vereinigung are focusing on climate and environmental issues. In “IMAGINE CLIMATE DIGNITY: Artistic Collaborations” cross-border artistic projects on a highly topical topic are to be created.

Artists from the field of fine arts are invited to work with international partners to deal with the ongoing climate change as one of the most burning questions of our time and to find answers to how a future can be designed that respects the dignity of nature and the dignity of the human being reconciles people. Collaborations with artists from the EU candidate countries are particularly welcomed.

“IMAGINE CLIMATE DIGNITY: Artistic Collaborations” is part of the anniversary year ’50 years of Austria Kultur International’, which celebrates half a century of cultural work in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. With the key project of the anniversary, the ‘IMAGINE Arts & Ideas Initiative’, the topic of future culture will be brought even more into the focus of foreign culture.

“The worldwide promotion of the work of artists in our country is one of the main tasks of Austrian foreign policy and is also an important concern for me personally. With the tender ‘IMAGINE CLIMATE DIGNITY:
Artistic Collaborations’, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is giving another active sign of innovative cultural work abroad,” said Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg.

It is the second joint call for tenders by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Künstlerhaus association:

“The project builds on the successful ON THE ROAD AGAIN call and continues the close collaboration with the Künstlerhaus association. Foreign cultural policy plays an important role, especially in times of crisis. It is our soft power with which we can open doors worldwide. In times of upheaval in foreign policy and global challenges, familiar points of reference and points of support are needed. Here, art and culture as a connecting constant will play an increasingly important role in the future. I hope that the new call will initiate sustainable artistic partnerships that span the world,” emphasizes Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg.

Project proposals for cooperations that will be implemented in 2024 with the following Austrian cultural forums can be submitted:
Beijing, Belgrade, Brussels, Istanbul, Cairo, London, Madrid, New Delhi, New York, Prague, Rome, Sarajevo, Tel Aviv, Tokyo and Warsaw. In the spring of 2025, all projects will then be on view in a joint group exhibition at the Künstlerhaus Wien.

The projects selected by the jury will receive a budget of 12,000 euros for implementation; this includes the fees, the realization costs including necessary transport costs as well as the support in the Künstlerhaus. Travel and accommodation costs are covered by the Austrian Cultural Forums.

Project proposals can be submitted until November 15, 2023. The jury will create shortlists for the 15 destinations by mid-January 2024 and then determine the final winning project together with the management of the respective cultural forum.

Details on the call for proposals and the opportunity to submit them will be available on the website from the beginning of October 2023 www.ontheroadcall.at .
