Imam Sheikh Mahir Al Muaikhili collapsed while leading Friday prayers at Masjid al-Haram in Makkah. While reciting Surat al-Fatiha from the Holy Qur’an in the first rak’ah of the prayer, by the time he reached the part of Ihdina Siratwal Mustaqeem, the imam became tired and could not complete the prayer. The head of the religious affairs department of the Haram, Sheikh Abdurrahman Sudais, who was right behind, completed the prayer later.
At the very end of the Jumu’ah khutbah, Shaykh Mahir Al Mu’iqili felt uneasy. The spokesman of the Haram Department responded that Shaikh Muaikhili has undergone a medical examination and he is completely healthy.
