Guests who stayed at Auberge Chez Jean, in Montreal, between July 29 and August 18, should be vaccinated against hepatitis A, according to the Direction régionale de santé publique de Montréal (DRSP), since they are at risk of being infected, if they are not already vaccinated.

The DRSP made the announcement on Friday afternoon in a press release. Several dozen people who attended the establishment located at 4136 avenue Henri-Julien could have been exposed to the virus which attacks the liver.

Public health is struggling to find all the people potentially exposed, as part of its epidemiological investigation.

Cases of hepatitis A are relatively rare in Montreal. As of July 31, 2023, 13 cases had been reported to the Montreal DRSP since the start of the year.
