A breakthrough in Party building and rectification, and anti-corruption work

Having achieved such great achievements, an important cause, our Party always renews, builds and corrects the Party – this is considered a key task with vital meaning.

President Ho Chi Minh – the founder, trainer and leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam once wrote: “A Party has the guts to admit its own shortcomings…and then find all ways to correct those defects. The Party is progressive, bold, sure, and true.”

Reality has proven that, in each revolutionary period, our Party has focused on solutions to build and correct the Party. In recent years, our Party has made important breakthroughs in Party building work, in the fight against corruption and negativity in order to tighten discipline and discipline in the Party.

The 5th Plenum of the 11th Central Committee (May 2012) decided to establish the Central Steering Committee for Anti-corruption under the Politburo, headed by the General Secretary. The Central Committee for Internal Affairs was also established and operating more effectively. The Law on Anti-corruption, the Law on Thrift Practices Against Waste… These are breakthroughs in the anti-corruption work of Vietnam.

The results of a recent public opinion survey showed that the overwhelming majority of people (93%) expressed confidence in the Party’s leadership in the fight against corruption.

In 2022 alone, up to 47 officials from the Politburo and the Management Secretariat were disciplined; dismissed from the position of 5 members of the Party Central Committee (term XIII); 2 Deputy Prime Ministers, 3 Deputy Ministers and equivalent…

Many particularly serious and complex corruption and negative cases and cases have been investigated and handled seriously, affirming the Party and State’s great determination in the fight against corruption. negative, in order to maintain the discipline and discipline of the Party, resolutely clean up the team and apparatus, and improve the fighting strength of each party organization.

Among them, many extremely difficult and complicated corruption and economic cases belong to sensitive fields in the category of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-corruption, negatively monitoring and directing such as Van Thinh Phat and AIC cases. , FLC, Tan Hoang Minh… Or like a large-scale case like the Consular Department, Viet A from central to local officials with many provinces and cities beyond the territory of Vietnam, involving many ministries , departments…

“Up and down, unanimously, horizontally and vertically”

At the 5th plenum of the 13th Central Committee, the Party Central Committee discussed and agreed on the policy of establishing a provincial Steering Committee on anti-corruption and anti-corruption. new.

The Provincial Steering Committee on anti-corruption and anti-corruption can also be seen as an “extension arm of the Central Government” in order to promptly solve outstanding and long-standing problems that cause public outrage. locally. This is a necessary, right and suitable job for the actual situation and contributes to strengthening the leadership, directing the implementation of drastic and synchronous implementation from central to local levels, creating positive changes. , to be stronger in the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity of the entire Party, people and army in accordance with the spirit of “above and below, unanimity, horizontal and vertical”.

Up to now, 63 localities have established provincial-level anti-corruption steering committees. This will be an important foundation to overcome the situation of “above hot, below cold”, “above fiercely, below numb”… which the General Secretary emphasized. Notably, 40% of corruption cases are due to local involvement.

In the first 10 months of 2022, localities prosecuted 382 new corruption cases (1.5 times higher than the same period last year). Many localities have prosecuted the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department, such as: Lao Cai, Phu Yen, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Khanh Hoa, Quang Ninh… resigned and dismissed 3 Chairman of the People’s Council, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee according to the policy of arranging and arranging work for cadres who were disciplined, and their prestige decreased.

The fight against corruption in Vietnam over the past time has contributed to making the Party more and more clean and strong; helping cadres and party members, especially those in positions, have the right to “self-examine”, “self-correct”, to constantly cultivate and practice in terms of political, moral and lifestyle qualities. That also makes party organizations, agencies and units increasingly strong and effective.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong once affirmed: “It is by doing well the construction and rectification of the Party, and stepping up the fight against corruption and negativity that has made an important contribution to promoting socio-economic development. Association, maintain political stability, strengthen national defense, security and foreign affairs, especially contribute to regaining and strengthening the people’s trust, rejecting false accusations of bad and hostile forces. Opponents argue that the fight against corruption and handling of cadres and party members who commit violations is an “internal struggle”, a “faction”.

Recently, the Central Committee for Internal Affairs coordinated with relevant agencies to organize the launching ceremony of the book “Resolutely and persistently fighting against corruption and negativity, contributing to building our Party and State on a daily basis.” purer and stronger” by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

In which affirms, the fight against corruption and negativity is “a necessary, inevitable, and irreversible trend” but also a very difficult, complicated and “impossible” task. just do it once and you’re done; on the contrary, must do very resolutely, persistently, persistently; do it regularly, continuously; Do it over and over again, such as brushing your teeth, washing your face every day.”

To do this requires “great determination, very high unity, drastic and feasible implementation measures, strict direction with a correct, sober, calm thinking method, do not be extreme, do not let bad forces take advantage, distort, incite and destroy”. From there, set out tasks and solutions towards the goal of “can’t”, “don’t dare”, “don’t want”, “don’t need” corruption and negativity.

At the same time, sending the message: “The fundamental problem in the fight against corruption and negativity is prevention from afar, early on, with the focus on Party building and rectification, and especially prevention and control. degradation of political ideology, morality and lifestyle among cadres and party members to eradicate corruption and negativity”. “Determination to fight against corruption and negativity is not only the task and responsibility of specialized agencies, but has become a common concern of all classes of people, officials, party members and friends. international friends”.
