Improve care spaces for women in Miranda

Mirandinas have improved spaces for their comprehensive care since Tuesday, since the headquarters of the Regional Institute for Women (Iremujeres) was reopened.

Through a televised pass with the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, the Sole Women’s Authority of Miranda, Wiselys Álvarez, highlighted the joint work between the national and regional governments to guarantee institutional spaces that allow the defense of women’s rights, their personal development and the care of their physical and mental health.

In that sense, he explained that the rehabilitation of the spaces included the installation of lighting in all areas, painting and plastering of walls, construction of a 45-centimeter slab and construction of an area for training.

“We have done an extraordinary job to serve women in this physical space that we have rehabilitated to dignify our women (…) to give the most vulnerable women, the women of the communities, the attention they require. This is a space that includes everyone, regardless of their political and ideological position and their social status,” said Álvarez, accompanied by María Teresa Granadillo, general director of the National Institute for Women (Inamujer).

The Sole Authority for Women of Miranda added that in this renovated headquarters and throughout the entity there are lawyers and advisers who provide “loving support” to women who are victims of violence. In this sense, he mentioned the activation of the Higher Body for the Defense of Women’s Rights, together with state security agencies.

He argued that a multidisciplinary team provides daily comprehensive care in terms of psychological therapies, legal advice, training and recruitment of entrepreneurs, as well as technical assistance and support to pregnant women through the Humanized Childbirth Plan. Likewise, the Comprehensive Care and Training Center for Women was installed in this headquarters, together with Inamujer.

For her part, María Teresa Granadillo stressed that the instance provides personalized attention to women as part of the public policies issued by the Ministry for Women and Gender Equality.
