This tragedy must lead us to think about how to better protect our fellow citizens and even more so for them. children. Sports clubs, with their numerous young people, lead to concentration points and therefore potential accident victims. The accident which cost Assya’s life took place on October 11.

The advisor would like the establishment of a working group focused on road safety around cultural, sports and youth movement infrastructures. “Even if there are victims in these circumstances only every 20 years, everything must be done to increase this period of time.”

For Eddy Maillet, everything has already been done to limit the risks. “We do not yet know all the circumstances of the Saint-Vaast tragedy but everything suggests that it was a bad combination of circumstances,” explains the head of the La Louvière police force. “Even if we take all possible precautions, this will never prevent an accident. Concerning the working group, I am not going to say that it already exists but the traffic police and the mobility service are already working permanently on all the places mentioned. so of course, there are perhaps situations that can be improved but overall, we are working on it continuously day by day.”
