In Brest, the Brest Private Hospital Center raises awareness about colorectal cancer screening – Brest

On the occasion of Blue March, colorectal cancer screening awareness month, the teams of the Brest private hospital center (CHP) undertake to inform about the importance of screening. During the day of this Tuesday, March 1, an information and awareness stand, in the presence of the league against cancer and the team from the CHP’s medical support service, was held in the hall of the establishment. An animation with a headset and augmented virtual reality glasses that allowed the public to discover, in a playful way, the inside of a colon and to visualize the evolution of a polyp.

“With covid, patients have postponed their tests”

“Detected early, colorectal cancer is 90% curable,” says Coralie Rivoual of the Regional Cancer Screening Coordination Center (CRCDC, ex-Adec) from Brittany. “It is one of the deadliest cancers in France: 50,000 cases are detected each year. However, with covid, patients have postponed their tests. Result: we discover cancers at more advanced stages of the disease, which require more heavy care”.

Do not postpone a test, it can save a life and it’s very simple.

Patients aged 50 to 74 receive an invitation from the screening center and can collect their tests from the attending physician, in pharmacies (Finistère is a test department, editor’s note) but also, since March 1, online via the website monkit.depistage-colorectal.fr.

At the CHP then at the Grand Large

“You should not postpone a test, it can save a life and it’s very simple”, abounds Fabrice Legros, of the League against cancer, present on the stand this Tuesday at the CHP Brest. A stand that is held all this week in the hall of the CHP in Brest, then from March 7 to 12 at the Grand Large clinic.
