Hamas leader Ismail Haniya is in Cairo to discuss a new truce in Gaza, the Palestinian organization said, as international pressure mounts for a ceasefire in the war.
The head of her political office Hamaswho is based in Qatar, “will discuss with Egyptian officials the political situation and the situation in the field,” according to a Hamas statement.
Ismail Haniya and his delegation will discuss an initiative presented last weekend in Paris between CIA Director William Burns and Egyptian, Israeli and Qatari officials.
According to a Hamas source, the organization is considering a three-phase proposal.
