They have been furious since the closure of their campsite at the beginning of 2024. The around 60 owners of mobile homes at the Kerolland private campsite (130 pitches), in Fouesnant, on the “Riviera” of southern Finistère, find themselves asked to leave their pitch and move their property before the end of the year.
But why ? “The family who owns the place, which we have known since 1970, has decided to sell,” says Corinne Le Blanc, from the Collective of users of the Kerolland campsite, which became an association under the 1901 Law. They would have liked this sale to be done “with someone who would share the family values” of this small peaceful community, located in Beg-Meil, a stone’s throw from the sea.
“It was the Giboire group which bought the site, and therefore the pitches, which the mobile home owners rented year-round. We were told in a letter dated January 31 that we could still stay for the next two seasons. Then, the last letter, at the end of March, required us to leave before the end of 2024,” laments Corinne Le Blanc.
A document sent to the collective would suggest a project which reveals a chic holiday complex with individual houses, small buildings and swimming pools… In the meantime, the owners are wondering and asking that Giboire respect the two-year commitment. A petition is also online and gathers more than 10,000 signatures.
Contacted, the group specified that the electrical installations “would not be up to standard” and would present “a risk of fire or explosion”. The work would require the campsite to reopen in mid-August. “Not profitable for the new temporary tenant operator that we had contacted to temporarily manage the site,” slips the regional director of Giboire, Guillaume Loyer, who specifies that the future project envisaged would be “a set of housing, both year and for seasonal workers. As for rental accessibility, it was not mentioned.
