The Austrian health insurance company reported 13,515 sick leave of its insured employees and unemployed persons in Carinthia for the past week. Compared to the previous week with 12,374 reports of incapacity for work, this is an increase of 1141 people or just over 9 percent. 3539 Carinthians were suffering from a flu infection, the week before there were 3187. 61 people suffered from real flu in the eighth calendar week, in the seventh there were 65, only here in Carinthia there is a slight downward trend.
Across Austria, the numbers of flu and flu-like infections are declining, but not so with Covid-19. “There is a noticeable decrease in influenza and flu-like infections. On the other hand, it is less gratifying that the corona numbers are rising again. That is why it is all the more important to take measures to prevent infection and further spread. In the case of sick leave due to Corona, the trend in Carinthia has been continuously upwards for weeks. In the past week, 797 had to take sick leave due to a Covid 19 infection. The increase in infections has been noticeable in Carinthia since the third calendar week, when 293 sick reports were due to Corona. Two weeks later there were already 454.
