The house of a family from Saint-Côme-Linière, in Beauce, was completely destroyed by a garbage truck on Friday morning.

The accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Principale Street and 15th Street.

The residence, which is a total loss, is at the end of a sloping street.

“My house entrance is in front of a hill and a truck that was going down lost the brakes,” says Bianca Perreault, owner of the house, in an interview with LCN.

Fortunately, no one was in the residence at the time of the impact and it was insured.

The woman and her three teenagers, however, lost everything.

“There is no more house, everything is destroyed. The last wall was brought down for safety this morning with a shovel. There is nothing left,” says Ms. Perreault.

The family has been taken in by the Red Cross, but the woman fears she will have difficulty finding a new home.

“We agree that rebuilding a house today, we arrive in July, apartments or houses for rent, there are none. And rebuilding a house, you can’t do that in two weeks too,” says the mother.

Still in shock, Bianca Perreault said she was relieved that no one was injured.

“It’s material. Yes, memories, unfortunately, but everyone, the children were not at home. I had left for work, so a bad return from work, on the other hand, it shortened the day, but everyone is fine, ”she says.

She is also delighted with the support she receives from the community.

“There is a great mobilization, everything we needed quickly we have it. We are still well surrounded, ”says Ms. Perreault.
