In Poland, they consider it possible to resolve the issue of the Volyn massacre

The head of the Polish Cabinet of Ministers, Mateusz Morawiecki, hopes that it will be possible to resolve the issue of the Volyn massacre. This is reported RIA Novosti on Monday, July 4th.

“We are now living in a critical time, and such a historical moment creates a completely new perspective, a new discovery. Today, Ukraine is forming the foundations of an entirely new founding myth. We will never – I certainly will not allow this – will not give up the truth about what happened in Ukraine 80 years ago. I really appreciate the efforts of the current authorities of Ukraine – for the first time so unambiguous – to resolve this issue appropriately and close it,” the politician said.

On July 11, 1943, Ukrainian nationalists attacked about 150 Polish villages in Volhynia, Eastern Galicia and the southeastern provinces of the republic. The events are regarded as genocide and ethnic cleansing, as a result of which, according to various sources, from 100,000 to 130,000 people were killed.

“The crimes that have taken place cannot be swept under the rug. The voices that are now coming from Ukraine are the first to promise a serious settlement in this matter,” the Polish prime minister summed up.
