Roca has been the scene of an important advance in the production of cannabis for therapeutic purposes, promoting sustainable development in the region. In this framework, it was the meeting “Production and Regulation of Cannabis Sativa in Argentina” that brought together more than 80 people, including registered cannabis growers and industry expertsto discuss the regulation and potential of the cultivation of medicinal cannabis and industrial hemp.
«This demonstrates the interest that there is and the importance of cannabis not only as a medicinal issue but also as an important leg in the industrial process., since hemp is also included. A crop that was developed within the history of humanity but that was impacted by the prohibition, when in reality it is a cannabis that does not have a psychoactive content”, commented the municipal secretary of Production and Sustainable Development, Mario López, in dialogue with the “It’s Time” program BLACK RIVER RADIO.
The meeting was attended by the director of the National Seed Institute (INASE) and of the National Cannabis Agency (ARICCAME), Gabriel Gimenez; the representative of the Table of Cannabis and Industrial Hemp of SENASA, Diego Pena; the North Patagonian supervisor of Plant Protection, Natalia Morales; and the Patagonian referent of INASE, Nicolás Santanatoglia. “An enriching exchange of ideas and experiences was generated between the representatives of the institutions and the producers present,” said the official.
Regarding the potential of the industrialization of sugarcane, he explained that this product has many benefits, it can be used to generate added value in fodder, fiber, pharmaceutical products, essential oils and foodstuffs.
López said that for several years they noticed a growing demand from this sector, especially from organizations, since there are several cooperatives formed in the city and clarified that At present there are many tools for those who wish to dedicate themselves to this type of cultivation, which projects a great growth in the city.
«The quality of production that can be achieved here is the same as at the international level obviously as long as the entire sector develops and in this I believe that the accompaniment and training is very important, since there is also a lot of misinformation, “he added.
