Estonian director Anna Hints spent seven years making her first full-length documentary Smoke Sauna Sisterhood. And under adverse conditions: the Estonian smoke saunas, which form the emotional center of the film, are 80 degrees Celsius. The humidity is high, the room is cramped, and the sauna session lasts four hours. But only when everything has been discussed and scrubbed down will the door be opened so that you can happily cool off in the ice water.
