In St. Petersburg, a visitor convicted of murdering a gay lover – February 6, 2023

The Vyborgsky District Court announced the verdict against a citizen of Tajikistan, Obidjon Ganiev, who was found guilty of murder, theft and damage to property. This was announced on February 6 by the joint press service of the courts.

It was found that on March 6 last year, Ganiev, while in an apartment in Pargolovo, strangled a 69-year-old pensioner with a belt, after which he took his iPhone7 into his hands and set fire to the house. The damage from the fire amounted to almost 103 thousand rubles. With the help of a mobile bank, Ganiev transferred 184,868 rubles to himself.

The defendant admitted his guilt and said that he was in a “close relationship” with the murdered man, but wanted to stop them, since his wife was waiting for Obidjon in his homeland. The pensioner wanted to continue.

The court sentenced the defendant to 10 years in a strict regime colony, and also recovered a little more than 750 thousand rubles, including funeral expenses, in favor of the family of the murdered.
