Vienna (OTS) Fear of terrorist attacks is once again spreading throughout Europe. In Austria, the terror warning was raised to the second highest level on Wednesday. Because of the recent escalation in the Middle East conflict and the terrorist attack in Brussels, the security authorities also see a “concrete threat situation and increased risk of attack” in Austria. Pro-Palestine demonstrations spark discussions, anti-Jewish slogans are met with vigils against anti-Semitism. And Interior Minister Gerhard Karner announced an increased visible presence in front of Jewish institutions.

How great is the threat of terrorism actually, what are the causes for it and what can we do to counter Islamist radicalization here in Austria? Which slogans can and should be tolerated at demonstrations, where are the red lines and to what extent is freedom of expression up for discussion?

Claudia Reiterer will discuss this on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at 10:10 p.m. on ORF 2 in “IM ZENTRUM”.
