Data recently released by the National Bureau of Statistics showed that in the third quarter, the profits of industrial enterprises nationwide increased by 7.7% year-on-year, showing an accelerating recovery trend. Since the beginning of this year, profits of industrial enterprises above designated size have rebounded quarter by quarter. In September, the profits of industrial enterprises nationwide increased by 11.9% year-on-year, achieving double-digit growth for two consecutive months.
As market demand continues to recover, the prices of industrial products have gradually recovered, and the revenue of industrial enterprises has improved significantly. In the first three quarters, the operating income of industrial enterprises above designated size was flat year-on-year, and the growth rate increased by 0.4 and 0.5 percentage points respectively from the first half of the year and the first quarter. Among them, the operating income of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 0.3% year-on-year in the third quarter. Looking at the monthly basis, the operating income of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 1.2% year-on-year in September, increasing for two consecutive months, and the growth rate accelerated by 0.4 percentage points compared with August.
In the third quarter, manufacturing profits increased by 11.8% year-on-year; profits in the electricity, heat, gas and water production and supply industry increased by 44.5% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 10.6 percentage points faster than in the second quarter.
Benefiting from factors such as the economy’s continued recovery and the effects of policies to expand domestic demand, consumer demand continues to pick up, and profits in the consumer goods industry have improved significantly.
