As the leader of the qualifying group, LASK is visiting WSG Tirol today (6.30 p.m.). It’s a direct duel for the lead, but both teams are still afraid of staying up in the league. One thing is certain: if LASK wins, the specter of relegation is mathematically finally expelled. The remaining clubs might not all pass because they take points from each other.
Then LASK might actually only look up in the table in the direction of the European Cup play-off – as was already suspected following the 6-0 win at the start of the qualifying group once morest Tyrol. The Schützenfest made one believe in the march through, the problem of exploiting chances seemed to be solved. But it turned out quite differently. It took six weeks until the next win once morest Altach last Saturday (2:1).
“In Tirol we can go one better,” said Peter Michorl with the self-confidence of his strong performance on Saturday. However, LASK only managed to do that once this season: the athletes only won two Bundesliga games in a row once morest Ried (1-0) and Austria (3-2).
“Don’t be blinded”
The consistency is missing, only constant is the harmlessness in front of the opposing goal. “You can make use of such chances,” said Michorl regarding the missed opportunities once morest Altach. “It doesn’t seem possible in our situation.”
That’s where Tyrol comes in. “We looked extremely bad once morest LASK three times this season,” said WSG coach Thomas Silberberger. The flattering 1:1 on the Tivoli for his team was followed by the 0:3 and the 0:6 in Pasching. “We won’t let ourselves be blinded by the clear result in the first leg,” promised LASK trainer Andreas Wieland.
