The victim escaped with only lacerations on his head and arms.

In Utah, a 70-year-old man survived a cougar attack by using rocks to protect himself.

This writes CBS News.

A hiker was trying to make his way through a dense grove in Diamond Fork Canyon, during which he was attacked by a puma (mountain lion or cougar). The predator knocked the American to the ground, but he did not lose his head, grabbed a stone and threw it at the mountain lion, doing this action several times.

This forced the wild animal to retreat. After that, the 70-year-old got to his car and left for the hospital. Utah County Sheriff’s Office officials said the victim escaped with only lacerations to his head and arms.

Now Fork is in a satisfactory condition. Local authorities said the Utah Department of Wildlife Resources tried to find the cougar, but was unsuccessful.

According to Scott Root of the said department, the cougar attacked the man near the parking lot. He urged vacationers to stay away from this place.

“If you do have to go into the canyon, please be extremely careful. I prefer to carry a can of bear spray with me when I go camping. We recommend people not to walk alone. Do not go hiking, perhaps at night. During the hike, make noise to alert the cougar and other wildlife to your presence,” the expert added.

It should be noted that cougars are frequent in the highlands of Utah. According to experts, this state has approximately 1,600 cougars.

The Cursor wrote earlier that a cougar attacked a man in a hot tub, but he did not immediately realize this.
