In Ukraine, they talked about the “blows in the gut” from “Gazprom” | News | News

The actions of the Russian Gazprom, including the cancellation of gas reverse from Hungary and the reduction of pumping to Slovakia, can be regarded as a blow to the stomach Ukraine… This was announced on Thursday, January 6, by the Ukrainian economist Oleksiy Kushch.

Gazprom struck our political elite several blows in the stomach, first by closing the reverse from Hungary (which was connected through a new connector to the Turkish Stream). Then – by reducing the flow of gas through the territory of Ukraine towards Slovakia, ”he wrote in his column for the Glavred newspaper.

According to him, the supply of gas to Ukraine is under threat due to the actions of the Russian company, provoked by the policies of European countries, but the country’s elite prefers not to notice this.

Kushch stressed that Ukraine cannot provide itself with cheap fuel, since it is engaged in a virtual gas reversal and refuses to buy blue fuel from Russia.

On Tuesday, January 4, the head of the company “Operator GTS of Ukraine” Serhiy Makogon said that the day before transit of natural gas from the Russian Federation decreased up to 52.5 million cubic meters m per day with the booked amounts of 109.6 million cubic meters. m in the afternoon.

“Gazprom” does not inform about the reasons for the reduction in transit, added Makogon.

On Monday, the former head of Naftogaz, Andrei Kobolev, said that if the company cannot provide sufficient imports of fuel, then Kiev will have to steal Russian gas from the transit pipe.

Kobolev said that if gas consumption in Ukraine reaches the indicators of February 2020, then Naftogaz will not be able to cover demand due to a shortage of imports.

Agreement between Moscow and Kiev, concluded for five years, provides for transit in 2021-2024 at 40 billion cubic meters. m per year. Gazprom pays for capacities regardless of the actual volumes of transportation through the territory of Ukraine.
