New twist in Windisch (AG). At the beginning of the week, we learned that 49 tenants of low-rent apartments had received a letter telling them that the owner of the premises terminated their leases to accommodate asylum seekers. But while the situation turned out to be more complexl’«Aargau newspaper» (subscribed article) reveals this Saturday that at least 11 residents have decided to challenge the terminations.

According to the German-speaking newspaper, they made their decision on Friday evening. “As the owner has decided not to withdraw the terminations, we are unfortunately forced to take these steps, because no exchange between equals is clearly desired by the owner,” explains one of the tenants.

The “Aargauer Zeitung” also obtained a copy of a letter from the cantonal social service. It is written that discussions with the municipality and the company that owns the apartments must take place in the coming days. The cantonal social service also intends to set up a reception and advice center next week. Its objective will be that the people concerned can stay in their accommodation until they have found a solution.
