Inauguration of the Nexans photovoltaic plant, 3,927 MWh/year

The Nexans photovoltaic power plant was inaugurated on Wednesday by the Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Kingdom of Morocco, Ryad Mezzour, and the CEO of the Nexans Group, Christopher Guérin, during a ceremony held on the group site in Mohammedia.

It is on the roof of this factory that the plant was installed, equipped with 4,640 photovoltaic panels over a total area of ​​12,166m2. It will produce more than 3,927 MWh of electricity annually, a capacity that will guarantee a significant reduction in CO emissions.2 of more than 2,850 tonnes per year, and will thus cover 19% of the plant’s energy needs.

« The choice of the Nexans group is in line with Morocco’s objectives to develop a clean, low-carbon and eco-responsible industry. Under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, our country was a pioneer in the development and use of renewable energies which, today, present an alternative thanks to which industrialists can both strengthen their competitiveness, reduce their energy bill and contribute to mitigating the impact of climate change”, declared Ryad Mezzour, specifying that “the energy transition is now becoming an industrial imperative that must be understood as an opportunity to be seized ».

This inauguration is at the heart of Nexans’ agenda, which has made the climate emergency a priority with a firm commitment to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 4.2% per year by 2030, confided for his part the CEO of the Nexans Group, Christopher Guérin

For her part, Nexans General Manager for North and West Africa, Selma Alami, stressed the importance of the context in which this inauguration takes place, noting that “theMorocco is moving up a gear in the development of renewable energies in order to guarantee its energy security while positioning itself as one of the most attractive world destinations in terms of green industrialization”.
