Income Tax General Order has been issued to block mobile SIMs, it has been decided to extend the scope to 14 lakh users. Earlier, PTA had refused to block Sims on the ground that there was no law.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) may take SIMS blocking action against 1.4 lakh non-filers who are not included in the Active Tax Payers List (ATL).

In this regard, according to the report of Business Recorder, Asif S Kasbati, senior tax expert of PBC Core Tax Committee, predicted that the SIMs of more than 14 lakh people on the Active Tax Payers List (ATL) can be blocked. .

It may be recalled that the FBR has issued an ITGO to deactivate the mobile phone SIMs of 56,671 people who are not included in the Active Tax Payers List (ATL). , and these persons are liable to file income tax returns for the tax year 2023 under the provisions of the Income Tax Ordinance.

Tax expert Asif S. Kasbati said that the FBR has issued the Income Tax General Orders (ITGOs) on 29 April 2024, with the aim of submitting them to the Active Tax Payers List (ATL) for the tax year 2023. 507,000 unregistered sims are to be blocked.

It should be noted that an analysis by Kasbati & Company (KC) shows that PTAs and all telecom operators must immediately ensure the implementation of the first ITGO. The mobile SIMs in respect of these persons will remain blocked until the mobile SIMs under the jurisdiction of the person are restored by the FBR or the Commissioner of Inland Revenue.

He advised 1.4 million people to contact their tax advisor immediately. All entities of suppliers and buyers must have income tax and sales tax registration. Early steps should be taken to avoid later problems.
