Increase in attacks on condominiums causes concern

Security inside condominiums is a subject that has caused a lot of concern among residents and trustees across the country, after all, the number of cases of invasions has had a remarkable growth in the last decade. The lack of an efficient security system can be an aggravating factor.

According to data from the Criminal Information System (Infocrim), between 2014 and 2018, an average of 12,000 attacks were recorded per month on homes and condominiums in the state of São Paulo. In the first half of 2022, there was an increase of 11.09% in cases of theft and robbery.

Still according to the same Infocrim survey, from January to June 2022 alone, this number reached 2,494 occurrences. This is an alarming scenario not only for the tenants, but also for everyone involved (supervisors, administrators, employees, service providers, etc.).

The strategies used by burglars are diverse and not all public security measures are sufficient. In addition, many condominiums do not have effective security systems, helping to increase the number of cases.

What are the risks to which tenants are exposed?

For Cláudio Celino, professor, businessman, Master in Business Administration, postgraduate in Telecommunications Engineering and Electrical Engineer, the first basic risk is that of perimeter invasion, that is, people trying to invade the area around the condominium.

The second is to have access, even through the gate, to unwanted people who were not invited and who are disliked by some tenants.

Another common risk is theft and burglary, or kidnapping residents. There is also the possibility of breach of privacy, nuisance and vandalism. Although they seem minor, they are situations that negatively impact the life of the tenant.

Modern security systems can be the ideal solution

The situations listed above can be avoided with the implementation of efficient technologies to prevent risks in the condominium. There is a wide range of solutions available to bring more security to the condominium, such as:

Access control with facial recognition

With the health measures to protect against COVID-19, using digital access with your fingers is taking hygiene and health risks, in addition to being a slow system. One of the most efficient and fastest technologies is access control with facial recognition. With it, it is possible to remotely manage the entry of residents, visitors and employees.

smart intercom

The smart intercom is a solution that facilitates communication between the entrance and the residents, and can be accessed by a smartphone with the possibility of viewing the image of the visitor who is at the entrance in real time. It can also connect to the remote extension, allowing the resident to answer the house intercom wherever they are.

monitoring application

With the application installed on the cell phone, it is possible to monitor and manage the enterprise through a complete artificial intelligence platform. In this way, the smartphone can be used to view images from the entrance camera or common areas, for example.

Intelligent Video Surveillance

Deploying a multi-camera monitoring system without artificial intelligence and analytics can be a failure. Therefore, the use of smart cameras is a safe choice. With them, it is possible to identify situations that deviate from the standard through intrusion detection and issue an alert on a map.

Smart Sensors

Intrusion sensors are devices that monitor activity in a given space and detect movement or changes in the environment. There are sensors for presence, opening/closing of doors and windows, break-in, smoke, fire and flood. When triggered, it sends a notification to the security system.

perimeter security system

Working from platforms such as fiber optics, drones, landmines, infrared or radars, these systems precisely identify the location where there was an attempt to invade the condominium and display the exact location on a map in real time.

Why adopt technological solutions?

“Most security errors that happen are due to human error. Smart solutions perform complex and repetitive tasks that would be difficult for an employee to do,” says Professor Cláudio.

In general terms, the adoption of these technologies may seem complex and costly, but in practice, this is not the case. These systems can work in an integrated manner from a single fiber optic multiservice platform.

That is, there is no need to look for a provider for each of the services. “Of course, this means a reduction both in the costs of implementing this technology and in the costs of maintaining the systems”, says Cláudio.

This is the concept of the Intelligent Condominium: an enterprise that unites intelligent solutions in a single project and from a single infrastructure made to last decades, fully modular and scalable.

With the increase in cases of attacks on condominiums, and without a public security system that can handle all occurrences, condominium management can resort to these technological solutions and guarantee the security of the place.

For Cláudio, the Intelligent Condominium is capable of protecting the development’s extensions, mainly long condominiums, in addition to increasing the reliability of the access control, bringing peace of mind that it will work accurately.

The Intelligent Condominium can, in this case, offer a complete and modern security system, with access control with facial recognition, smart intercom, monitoring application, Intelligent Video Surveillance, Smart Sensors and perimeter security system.
