CIRCULATION of fake fertilizer is considered to be increasingly massive. General Chairperson of the Indonesian Farmers’ Seed Bank Association (ABBTI) Dwi Andreas Santosa appealed to the public to be aware of this.

“Until now, that will never disappear,” said Dwi in a statement quoted on Tuesday, May 7 2024.

According to him, vigilance must be increased because this fertilizer can attract farmers. Dwi gave the example of the raid on a fertilizer factory in Burangkeng Village, Setu, Bekasi. The police arrested HAR and named him a suspect.

This case began with findings from the community and the Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI). The police arrested the suspect and a number of pieces of evidence, namely five tons of kaptan (lime), 14 cans of dye, one sewing machine, and three booklets/receipts (production, sales and salaries).

The police also confiscated several important documents. Among other things, one book of travel documents in the names of several companies, along with one sack of Sp 36 phosphate fertilizer and three trucks containing fertilizer ready for distribution and one truck containing dyes.

In this case, the police revealed that HAR’s turnover amounted to hundreds of millions of rupiah. The fertilizer he makes is sold for IDR 60 thousand per sack.

The prices set are far below market prices. This fertilizer is marketed to small farmers in the Sumatra and Lampung regions.
