Index – Sport – Dezső Dobor has died

Dezső Dobor started working at Hungarian Television in 1972 and was an employee of Telesport for decades. He broadcasted and reported on a total of nine Olympics.

For several decades, he served as press chief at domestic sports events, was vice president of the wrestling committee of the International Association of Sports Journalists (AIPS) and of the Association of Hungarian Sports Journalists, and was twice elected to the presidency of AIPS.

He produced important reportage and documentary films and wrote books regarding the Olympics, Hungarian Olympic champions, Hungarian basketball, prominent Hungarian and foreign athletes, coaches, and football teams.

In recognition of his work, he received, among other things, the gold degree of the Sports Medal of the Hungarian People’s Republic, received the MOB media award, and was awarded several times in the Silver Javelin competition.
