India has blocked access to the websites of Binance and other global crypto exchanges

The sites have been unavailable since January 12. This happened following the Indian government informed cryptocurrency exchanges regarding non-compliance with the country’s money laundering laws, the publication points out. Such notices were sent to crypto exchanges Binance, Kucoin, Bittrex, Bitstamp, MEXC Global, Houbi, Kraken, Gate.io and Bitfinex on December 28 last year “for illegal activities” in India. The companies were noted to have failed to comply with registration rules and local tax regulations. As a result, the Ministry of Finance instructed the Ministry of Information Technology to block their URLs.
