Japan is a very strong team in India’s group. In the latest FIFA ranking, Japan’s senior team was ranked 20th. Japan’s juniors have won two of their three matches this month. Last year, this team of Japan defeated teams including Iran, Sweden and Denmark. The situation in Vietnam is no different. Last year, the team made a good result in the friendly match with the youth teams of German clubs. Vietnam was the runner-up in last year’s ASEAN U-16 Championship.
Uzbekistan is the team that defeated Brunei by fourteen goals in the qualifying round of last year’s AFC U-17 Asian Cup. They also defeated the mighty South Korea that day. Uzbekistan’s youth team has beaten the Indian team in two friendly matches earlier this year. That confidence will fuel Uzbekistan.

This Asian Cup is also the qualifying round of the AFC U-17 Lockup to be held in Peru this year. The four teams that reach the semi-finals can qualify for the World Cup. In 2018, the Indian team reached the quarter-finals of the tournament, then known as the AFC U-16 Championship. They missed out on World Cup qualification by just one win. Bibiano Fernandes, a native of Goa, was the coach of the team that day.
