New Delhi: India has moved up five places in the list of world’s most powerful passports to the 80th position. The position was improved in this year’s World’s Strongest Passports Index by global investment migration consultancy Henley & Partners.

An Indian passport currently allows visa-free entry into 57 countries. Countries including Thailand, Rwanda, Jamaica and Sri Lanka can be flown visa-free or with visa-on-arrival facility. Meanwhile, visas are required to enter 177 countries, including China, Japan, Russia, the US and European countries.

Japan, which has been in first place for the past five years, is third this time. Singapore is the first. A Singapore passport allows visa-free entry to 192 countries. Germany, Spain and Italy are in second place. You can visit 190 countries using these passports.

Austria, Finland, France, Japan, Luxembourg, South Korea and Sweden are in third place, and visa-free entry is possible to 189 countries. Britain is fourth and America is eighth. Last on the list is Afghanistan. Afghans can enter only 27 countries without a visa.
