“Indian Mountaineer Baljeet Kaur Rescued from Annapurna: A Triumph in the Face of Danger”

Kathmandu (Nepal) ∙ Indian mountaineer Baljeet Kaur (27), who went missing while climbing ‘Annapurna’ in Nepal, the 10th highest peak in the world, was rescued after a day. Baljeet was brought to the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu yesterday evening and shifted to the hospital.

Radio contact with Baljeet, who left on Monday with two Nepali Sherpas, was lost late at night. But yesterday morning, Baljeet’s message was received asking for an urgent rescue and the search was intensified. Baljeet was found at an altitude of 7375 meters in the evening during a search with the help of 3 helicopters.

Baljeet, who climbed the world’s fourth highest peak ‘Lotse’ last May, became the first Indian to climb 4 peaks of 8000 meters in one season. At 8091 meters, Annapurna is one of the most difficult peaks to climb.
