Indian Women’s Cricket Team Triumphs in Asian Games Semi-Finals despite Rain Interruption

Hwangchu: The Indian women’s cricket team participating in the Asian Games made it to the semi-finals. The matches will be knockout from quarter final onwards.

India entered the semi-finals following the match once morest Malaysia was abandoned due to rain. Earlier, India scored 173 runs for the loss of two wickets in a match shortened to 15 overs.

Opener Shafali Verma scored 67 runs off 39 balls and Jamima Rodrigues scored 47 runs off 29 balls. By the time Malaysia’s batting passed two balls, the rain would come once more and the match would be abandoned.

After the second quarter-final between Pakistan and Indonesia was also abandoned due to rain, Pakistan also entered the semi-finals. Not a single ball was bowled in this match.

In the event of no results for both the matches, India and Pakistan were given entry to the semi-finals on the basis of the best ICC ranking criteria.
