India’s Modi Promotes AI Leadership Role

Modi Pitches India as Global Artificial Intelligence Hub at AI Summit

Latest Delhi – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday positioned India as a key player in the rapidly evolving global artificial intelligence (AI) landscape, emphasizing the nation’s ambition to not only develop cutting-edge AI technologies domestically but also to craft them accessible worldwide. The push comes during a global AI summit held in New Delhi, signaling a concerted effort to establish India as a central hub for AI innovation and deployment.

Modi’s vision centers on leveraging AI for societal benefit, with a particular focus on ensuring the technology remains inclusive and responsible. He articulated a framework called ‘MANAV Vision’ – an acronym representing Moral, Accountable, National, Accessible, and Valid AI systems – to guide the development and implementation of artificial intelligence within the country. This initiative underscores India’s commitment to shaping the future of AI in a way that aligns with ethical principles and national interests.

The Prime Minister highlighted the potential of AI to augment human capabilities, comparing its transformative power to that of the internet. “AI is making machines intelligent, but more than that, it is increasing human capabilities manyfold,” Modi stated, according to reports from the Economic Times. He stressed the demand for proactive reskilling initiatives to prepare the workforce for the changes AI will bring, anticipating the creation of new job opportunities alongside evolving roles.
