Indonesia’s Ministry of Health issued a statement warning people to be vigilant against the spread of the XBB.1.16 omikron virus after the number of such infections was likely to increase.
Indonesia has reported 10 cases of the XBB.1.16 strain since the first case was reported on March 23.
Indonesia now has 6.7 million cumulative cases of COVID-19, with more than 1,000 new cases added per day in the past few weeks.
The Ministry of Public Health warned that the number of COVID-19 cases will surge to more than 4,000 per day next week.
