The team arrived in the bustling city on Sunday, February 9th, and has as undergone a light recovery session at the hotel.
Adapting to a New Environment
“Alhamdulillah.We arrived this morning [Sunday] in the city of Shenzhen, China. And today we recovery at the hotel. Players adapt enough to the weather and new environment,” said Indra Sjafri through a post on Instagram on Monday, February 10th.
The Indonesian team’s official social media accounts have shared glimpses of the players exploring the city of shenzhen, enjoying its vibrant atmosphere while acclimating to the new surroundings. Light training sessions have also been incorporated into the team’s schedule to maintain their fitness levels.
Looking Ahead to the Group Stage
Indonesia has been drawn into Group C alongside Iran, Uzbekistan, and Yemen. Their first encounter will be against Iran on Thursday, February 13th. The stakes are high in this tournament as the top four teams will secure berths in the U-20 World Cup 2025 in Chile.
“Hopefully thes 23 players are able to provide maximum ability and be an answer to the expectations of all Indonesian people. We are optimistic that we can achieve the best results at the U-20 2025 Asian Cup,” asserted Sjafri.

Roni Kurniawan: Alhamdulillah, the transition has been smooth. The players are adapting well to the weather and exploring the city. Our priority is ensuring they are pleasant and relaxed before the tournament begins.

Archyde: You’ve been drawn into a tough Group C with Iran, Uzbekistan, and Yemen. What are your thoughts on the group stage challenge?
Roni Kurniawan: Every team in the tournament is capable.Group C presents a formidable challenge, but we are well-prepared. We respect all our opponents but remain confident in our abilities. We aim to approach each match with focus, discipline, and a winning mentality.

Archyde: The top four teams in the tournament qualify for the U-20 World Cup in Chile. how important is this tournament for the future of Indonesian football?
Roni Kurniawan: Reaching the World Cup is a dream for every young player and for Indonesian football as a whole. It would be a landmark achievement and a testament to the talent and dedication of these young players. We are fighting hard to make that dream a reality.
